We Vorarlbergers are known to be somewhat reserved when it comes to making new friends, BUT we are also very active and passionate in our clubs, volunteering, and hobbies. Enthusiasm for a cause brings people together, SO here are a few suggestions on where you can get to know us better:
Michael Sohm is a member of the Triathlon Club Trigantium Bregenz and provides insights into the club’s activities:
What does your club do?
Our club is primarily a triathlon club, but everyone is welcome who participates in at least one of the three sports: swimming, running, or cycling, and who is interested in group training. There are some who “only” come to the running training, while others only swim…
How often do you meet?
We meet more or less frequently depending on the season. A fixed schedule includes running and swimming training on Tuesday evenings throughout the year. In summer, this is often followed by a gathering.
Additionally, in summer, we have early morning swims at 6 AM on Thursdays for the hardcore enthusiasts 🙂
Often, there are also joint cycling tours/training sessions in smaller groups on weekends. We participate in running, swimming, and cycling events together, or sometimes go to Tuscany for a few days for a training camp.
What is special about Trigantium Bregenz?
Once a year, we organize the Bregenz Triathlon, which requires a lot of effort and commitment from each individual throughout the year. But it’s simply a great feeling to put together such an event as a team 🙂
Of course, we also meet throughout the year for events like the Christmas party, annual general meeting, and more.
How did you join the club?
I joined the club over 10 years ago after moving back to Vorarlberg from Vienna. Triathlon has always fascinated me, so joining a club was the perfect way to connect with like-minded people who share the same enthusiasm for the sport, and to train and compete together.
Do you accept new members? If so, what should they bring?
We do accept new members, and apart from enthusiasm for the sport and enjoyment of socializing, not much is required. The athletic part usually falls into place, especially since we have members of very different performance levels.
Where and in what capacity do you work?
I am self-employed as a graphic designer/3D artist with an office in Vienna, and for me, sport and the club are a wonderful complement and balance to my office and job.
